About this site

CH405 Labs is a site that provides information about maker projects and related topics. The focus is on providing details on how to come up with solutions and how to approach encountered problems. I believe, that troubleshooting, even if not successful, allows everyone to learn. So this site strives to not only describe nice and shiny solutions, but instead wants also to describe encountered faults and errors. Articles will describe the troubleshooting process, even if the root cause could neither be identified nor eliminated.

Why

When I started with electronics and I hit a roadblock, I tried to get help from sites like reddit and the like. Often however, there were few people who were interested in tackling more complex problems without an obvious solution. There were even people complaining about the depth of the information.

Also, when researching certain topics, there often is a wealth on information about potential solutions, but a fully described troubleshooting process is rare. In my experience, reading in depth about the thoughts of others, makes it easier to apply similar ideas to ones own challenges and is an important tool to grow.

With this site, I strive to encourage you to read, learn, engage or even publish information yourself.

Contributions

If you want to contribute, please reach out to me. The site is just starting, so there are not yet any best practices how content should be strucutred. However, content must be original and it should be carefully written with lots of detail and a clearly laid out thought process. We strive for quality content, rather than quantity.
